BOSTON — A former Tisbury police officer has sued the town and two department officials, alleging that they discriminated against her based on her race and sexual orientation during and after her time on the job.

A former Tisbury Police sergeant says she was discriminated against by fellow police officers because she is a Hispanic gay woman, according to a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Boston.

BOSTON — A Whitman police officer is suing the town, a former police chief and a former town administrator for $750,000, saying they discriminated against him and didn't accommodate his disabilities.

The Baker administration wrongly blamed career State Police civilian employee Melissa O'Meara for mistakes in the Office of Alcohol Testing according to an arbitrator who has ordered that she be rehired and collect $255,000 in back pay.

Tisbury has settled a federal lawsuit with a fired police lieutenant, agreeing to pay Eerik Meisner $400,000 — about four times the $114,000 he earned during his last full year on the department.

After a retrial sparked by a legal error, a Worcester Superior Court jury Friday awarded $885,000 to a Millbury official who alleged Worcester Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis' office fired him for reporting illegal campaign activity at the jail during the 2010 election.

A former Monterey police sergeant who was denied reappointment to the force has filed a federal lawsuit against the town, its Select Board and Selectman Kenneth Basler, alleging civil rights violations and retaliation.

Sgt. Michael Johnson claims the Select Board declined to reappointment him as a full-time officer as retaliation for critical comments he made about the board during an unsuccessful campaign for election to an open seat in 2016.

PITTSFIELD — The city has settled the second of two federal suits brought forward by former city police officers alleging, among other things, retaliation for raising concerns regarding hiring practices within the department.

That information comes on the heels of the disclosure that the city settled an earlier suit with former Pittsfield Police Officer Mark Lenihan for $120,000.
